Lost Piano

This large villa with a very simple and sleek appearance was a complex consisting of a central entrance hall, an adjacent farm, a chapel, and several acres of land planted with vines. The Villa was occupied by the Nazis during the war and was the tragic scene of a massacre. In the gardens adjacent to the villa, three peasants were brutally slaughtered in retaliation, one of whom was only 16 years old. Although it has been completely abandoned for years, it must be revered in silence and with the respect such a place deserves to be remembered.

The complex is quite empty of objects, but has beautiful rooms with frescoes, the remains of a grand piano that was probably too heavy to carry around is one of the real eye catchers for me.

In a fresco there is an inscription in Greek which is supposed to mean “Given to God”.

Some attics on the second floor had collapsed, making the interior of the second floor visible from below.
